Using
Schubertline
Start
Here
|
|
Using
Schubertline is easy once you get used to it, but it can seem complicated
to begin with. Why not print this page for reference?
|
| |
|
|
|
1:
Select a song title, and install
Scorch if prompted, or if no music appears.
|
Scorch
is the free software from Sibelius which enables you to see, hear
and print music from major music publishers. Installation is automatic
on Windows. For Mac / Netscape / Safari / Firefox etc., easy on-screen
instructions are provided. |
| |
|
|
|
2:
Windows: the music should appear.
Macs,
or PCs using other browsers:
re-start your computer and return to Schubertline website to view
the music.
|
Windows:
If you already have Scorch, there is no need to update it unless
you are prompted that the score you want to view requires a more
recent version of Scorch. If it does, click "Yes" when
invited and the most recent version of Scorch will install automatically.
Mac
/ Netscape / Safari / Firefox etc. users, click
here for the latest version of Scorch for your system.
|
| |
|
|
|
3:
Check your selected score for viewing and
playing
|
Scorch
may not work properly if your internet Privacy/Security level is set
too high, or if you use firewall or pop-up killer software such as
ZoneAlarm. It is your own computer which has to do the printing and
transposition, so it needs to be able to receive messages from our
server ('cookies') telling it what to do. Some firewalls interfere
with this, and may have to be disabled when using Schubertline. |
| |
|
|
|
|
4:
Switch on your printer and try printing
some free pages
|
You
can print the first page of most scores for free, and about 20 titles
can be printed complete without charge.
|
| |
|
|
|
|
5:
Now try using the transposition facility
|
Schubertline
scores can be transposed into any key. However, if you shift the notes
a lot they may be obscured by text. Choose the appropriate high or
low key version of the music and shift the notes as little as possible.
To avoid strange enharmonic accidentals you sometimes need to transpose
first into a simple key like C major, and then into the key of your
choice. You can modify the key whenever the score is displayed (including
after paying, and just before printing). |
| |
|
|
|
|
6:
To buy a complete score, click the
"Buy" button above the music.
|
Don't
put more than 4 scores in your shopping basket or your printer/browser
may run out of allocated memory before printing is completed. You
may need to change the Internet Privacy/Security setting of your
computer: "cookies" - needed for transposition and shopping
baskets - may not work if Privacy is set at "High". Firewalls
and pop-up killers may also cause problems, and may need to be disabled.
When
you have finished selecting the titles you want to buy, click on
"Buy Now".
|
| |
|
|
|
|
7:
Enter your subscription passwords OR pay by credit / debit card
at the checkout.
|
If
you have purchased a subscription, your scores are immediately available
for printing without going to the checkout. Otherwise, you can pay
for the individual scores you have selected; you will be taken to
WorldPay's secure server. WorldPay (Royal Bank of Scotland) is the
UK's largest online banking facility and is completely secure: at
Schubertline, we never see your card details. When you payment has
been accepted... |
| |
|
|
|
|
8:
Print your scores
|
follow
the links to continue and print your music. You only get one chance
to print the music; you can't save the scores on your hard disk. If
you "cancel" or postpone printing you may lose your chance
to print. |

Things
to remember when using Schubertline:
- You
can't store scores on a hard disk or memory stick for printing later,
nor can you save the music as a pdf file.
You should print
straight after paying.
- Selection
- Payment - Printing should be an uninterrupted process. Don't wait
until you've paid before installing Scorch!
- Please
print one of our free sample pages before purchasing a score. You
will be asked to confirm that you have done this, before paying.
- Please
make sure you are using the latest version of Scorch which is available
for your operating system. If you have an out of date version you may
only be able to print the first page of a score. You can upgrade (free)
to the latest version here.
